Philadelphia

Every American school child studies about Philadelphia because it was the first capital of the United States. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and many other famous leaders met in Philadelphia to design the government of the United States, so the city still celebrates its rich history. Philadelphia is now a modern city with public transportation, businesses, sports teams, art, and shopping. People from different cultures and backgrounds live in the city, so a student who studies in Philadelphia can experience the true variety and diversity of American life.

Washington, D.C.

Philadelphia is located three hours away from Washington, D.C. Washington is the home of the White House as well as the famous Smithsonian museums. As a school, we travel here every spring for the Cherry Blossom Festival, which has been called the nation’s greatest springtime celebration.

New York City

Philadelphia is just two hours away from New York City. It is easy to take a train or bus to see Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, or any of New York’s famous sites.

Activities

TLC-Philadelphia offers trips to the beach, the mountains, the countryside, and to some of the nation’s most famous cities.

The Beach

In the summer TLC-Philadelphia takes daytrips to beaches in New Jersey. Students can swim, play volleyball, shop, or simply enjoy the summer sun.

The Mountains

Every winter students enjoy snow-tubing in the mountains west of Philadelphia. In autumn the school goes hiking to see the beautiful changing tree colors.

The Countryside

In order to show students life outside the city, TLC-Philadelphia also takes trips to a variety of farms, snack factories, and outlet shopping malls.
