About the Center


The Language Company - Chester is located on the campus of Widener University. We work closely with the University to guarantee that you will be prepared for academic study after you finish your English course.

Programs Offered:

The Cities of Chester and Philadelphia

The Language Company - Chester and Widener University are in the suburb of Chester within the Philadelphia area, just twenty minutes by train or car from downtown Philadelphia and only ten minutes from Philadelphia International Airport.
Philadelphia's population is 3,000,000, the fifth largest city in the U.S.

  • Less than two hours by train to New York City and Washington, D.C.
  • Only two hours to the Atlantic Ocean beaches or the Pocono Mountains
  • Home of Liberty Park, Independence Hall, and other U.S. historical sites

The Weather

Pennsylvania has the advantage of experiencing all four seasons which means that students can enjoy weather that they may have never experienced. Winters are typically mild with an average temperature of 40 degrees with average snowfall. Spring is crisp and very colorful. Summers are mild and not too hot. The autumn is similar to spring

TLC - Chester staff organizes social and cultural activities which take advantage of the Philadelphia area's many attractions. Many activities are free or have only a small fee. TLC - Chester may organize week-end trips to other cities such as Washington D.C. or New York City for a reasonable, affordable fee.
