  Hi! My name is Jessica Jeong. I’m a 6th grader in St. James.
  Why is English important to the world? The countries have a lot of languages in the world. However, as time goes, we change many things in the world. Nowadays, all schools have a subject, English. So, many private schools use Americans to teach English easily. Also, we have a test subject, English, in many schools. English became a required subject. Many English academies form in each country. For these reasons, we can know why English is important to us. However, we have very important reasons.
  First, English is a language that is a world’s common language. So many countries usually use English for their own language. Many people this language when they talk. If we know English, we will be able to speak with other countries’ people.
  Second, when we became adults, English is a help to us. Half of the world’s people use English, so we can talk with them when we negotiate directly with other countries’ companies. We can speak English so it doesn’t matter when we talk with other countries’ people. English is a help to us on everything. American economies are very good, so we can negotiate with America easily. And we can be rich!
  Third, when we go to a college, we have to take a test about English. An English test amounts to a good grade. When we don’t know English, although we’re good at all subjects except English, we won’t be able to go to the best college in Korea. Like this, English is a required subject for us. If we don’t know any English, we won’t be rich and be able to live a good life.
  To know English is good to us when we live our lives. When we go out into the world, English will be useful to us. However, it is hard to learn the other languages. One of my friend’s sisters can speak 12 languages. She did her best and was very tenacious when she learned about 12 languages. I wanted to follow her examples. I’m learning about English for my future life and my job. When we learn some languages we can do everything when we go to the other countries.
  However, everyone loves each other’s countries’ languages. If we want to learn about the other languages, we will have to do our best and be tenacious. I think my country’s language, Korean, is my best language that I learned, talked, spoken with Korean and it is easy to use. Also, if we always only study hard, we will lose interest in our life. So we have to study suitably. To learn many languages is very useful when we study suitably. If we do like this, we spend times happily and live in our happy lives.
